Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all accounting functions for high-net worth individuals, family clients, and their investment entities
- Manage operational, financial, and reporting aspects of each engagement
- Coordinate clients' accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries and maintenance
- Responsible for month-end and year-end close of financial statements, account reconciliations, general ledger analysis, and annual audits where applicable
- Oversee payroll for clients' employees as needed
- Develop, enforce, and evaluate firm accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with clients' needs; recommend process improvements
- Manage ad-hoc projects and reporting as needed
- Record investment activity including capital calls, distributions, and profit and loss items
- Perform quarterly accounting closings; implement related checklists and formalized procedures
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reporting for investments including private equity funds, direct private equity, hedge funds, publicly traded securities, and currencies
- Reconcile cash activity per books to cash activity per investment manager statements and resolve discrepancies
- Assist in gathering information necessary to complete tax returns, interim tax estimates, and estimated payments
- Liaise with outside tax accountants/preparers and track tax basis of assets
- Provide periodic compliance reporting to banks and other counterparties; complete ad hoc projects such as Personal Financial Statements and Individual/Family Balance Sheets
- Leverage and evaluate technology platforms to run consolidated reporting on client's investment holdings and positions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
- 8+ years accounting experience including 3+ years in a Controller-type position
- Experience with fair value calculations among funds and between classes with different preference rights
- Experience with investment reporting systems such as Addapar, eMoney, or others
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and QuickBooks, and other software platforms for family/entity level accounting and reporting
- Strong project management and client service skills
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and ability to interact with clients
- Solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements
- Ultra-high attention to detail, problem solver, and intellectually curious
- Adherence to the highest level of confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license preferred
- Tax experience/exposure preferred
